Mt. Bierstadt from Guanella Pass, October, 2000. This is how the sunset actually appeared, no filters or digital manipulation was used. This still stands as the best Colorado sunset I've seen.

Voted 10/10 | We were returning from Breckenridge and the most incredible clouds I had seen in my life were hovering over the Front Range. They were lit up in the very colors seen in this picture. The cloud formation was massive and unforgettable. We took a picture at the end of the roll but we did not get it back from the processing plant. The clouds were layered and appeared to be illuminated from behind as well as from the west. I'll never forget it! I wondered if I would ever see a picture of this event-I'm guessing this shot is it. Hasn't voted | Aaron, that's pretty cool. I'd like to think it was the same day. As I mentioned, I think this was the most incredible sunset I've witnessed in Colorado, and I've been out for a lot of them. My wife and I actually went up to Guanella Pass just to shoot a late afternoon photo of the two of us for that years Christmas card, and by the time we were done, I could tell something awesome was going to happen. I only had 3 rolls of 35mm film left, and had left my 4x5 camera at home(never again). I could have shot 10 rolls! It's a pretty neat progression from start to finish. My wife was keeping warm in the truck, and laughing at me because I was literally spinning around trying to decide where to shoot next :) Thanks for sharing your memories of that great night! | | Posted Oct 15, 2003 12:04 am |
