This is a view of the start of the hike onto the north plateau of Bison Peak. In the middle/right side of the photo you can see colonalpyat hiking through the maze of rock formations.

Joshua Tree NP (CA)- have you ever been there?? Though not in the middle of the mountains, the place is bad-ass. Don't know if you technical climb or not, but the place is GREAT for that (just don't go in the summer- way too hot)! Sorry about ranting about this, but I think your great Bison Pk page & photos reminded me of it (check out some photos & you'll see what I mean). Looks great!
