I am pretty sure this is Baldy Alto. Stewart Peak is located on the right side of Nutras Creek.

I guarantee you it is Stewart Peak. It is from the northern fork of Nutras Creek which would put Stewart on the left. If you would like I could show you on a topo map the location the photograph was taken from.

Hmmm. After going through a narrow part of Nutras Creek, the valley opens up a bit just below treeline. On your topo map, you show a right turn to start heading up to the ridge to the east of San Luis. Is this where you are saying you took the picture? This picture looks well below treeline.

Ok, I think I see where you took the picture. You took the first steam to the right out of Nutras Creek. This must be where you took this picture so that Stewart would be on the left. Topozone shows Nutras Creek always to the left of Stewart Peak ending in between Stewart and Baldy Alto. This is the route I took down.

Yes, I did take the first right fork. It isn't named on the map so I just asummed it would be considered "north fork nutras creek". It was a very pleasant route. And I imagine you had different scenery following Nutras Creek further west. I look forward to seeing your photos.

As soon as I get a chance, I am going to make a Baldy Alto page. Should have some pictures then. The only problem with following Nutras Creek all the way is the willows. I hate them. Plenty of Elk though.
