Thank you for the comment. Yes it is a very striking contrast, but not uncommon in the Dolomites.

Thank you, Charles. Yes, although perhaps very pronounced here, the Dolomites are famous for such contrasts, that are further enhanced by the colour of the rocks.

Thank you, yes that was a nice surprise.
(Actually, you are further away from here than the Dolomites!)

place to put the bare feet when they are out of the warm boots. I'm only sad that I've already had my Dolomite week this year. I'm longing back when I see your photos.

I feel with you, but I see that one of the peaks you climbed was the Paternkofel, and that you took some good photos from it. We climbed it in 1996, but from the Forcella Lavaredo. A very nice peak.

Thank you very much. The climbs go from a rather easy ferrata up the south ridge (not seen here), to a north face (on the left) route pioneered by Messner.

This makes me wish I lived somewhere closer. I think I'm going to have to find a nice spot of grass today for a nap! Thanks for posting!

Thank you for the comment! Yes, that would be an ideal place for a nap, the Dolomites are like a dream anyway.

Park-like greens! I would like to try via ferrata one day. Messner cut his teeth on these mountains, did he not?

Thank you for the kind comment. The ferrata on Peitlerkofel is among the easier ones. As far as I understand, Messner's first mountain was Sass Rigais, a little more to the south, which he climbed at the age of 5 years with his father (he was born at he foot of it).
