Voted 10/10 | Hi, wonderful series from Lion ridge! Is it col de Leone on the left? How hard is the access to the saddle from italian side? Cheers Tomas :) | | Posted Jan 23, 2008 9:16 pm |

Hasn't voted | Hi Tomas,
the very left corner of the picture is the NW side of the Colle Del Leone. The saddle can be accessed in two ways, either through the normal route or, if there is enough snow, by climbing straight up from the base of the mountain. I would not attempt the second route unless there is plenty of snow as rock fall is a major danger. Both routes are not too difficult, the hard part comes after the Capanna Carrel.
Take care!

I was surprised that I couldn't find the two climbers, so I enlarged it and searched carefully - they are tiny figures on the balcony of the Capanna Carrel! And this is a picture of most of the mountain as seen from the glacier/stone-field!
Grazie mille for your great series of pictures of the Italian Route. | | Posted Mar 4, 2008 4:41 pm |
