I grew up in Beaver, Utah, and the Beaver Mountains were our refuge during the summer. We spent from spring to fall up and down these mountains hunting, fishing, and hiking. Now that I live 100 miles away, we still spend nearly a week a year at Big John's flat, camping and hiking in the area. This year (July 2005) I am bring a scout group here for the Delano Peak climb, and the Blue Lake climp. If you have time, 5-6 hours, you can start at Mudd Lake and follow a well developed foot-horse train west, nearly 4 miles down between the peaks of Mt. Baldy and Mt. Belknap (Both the shale rock peaks to the northwest of Delano. At the baseof these peaks is a beautiful, though very cold, lake nestled between the peaks. It is a beautiful hike and well work the trip. The trip in is all downhill, but likewise the trip out is all uphill (1200 feet vertical climb). Have fun! We have even taken our 6-8 year old kids on this one. It was hard for them, but a great accomplishment..

The Delano Peak/ Tushar area is a real treasure. You have been fortunate to spend so many hours in the area and to

know it so well. Thanks for sharing your experiences and perhaps you have some pics you can add to the page.
