2nd East Face traverse [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
2nd East Face traverse
From the top of the snow gully at a notch you have to cross horizontally for about 200 ft on a ledge. The ledge goes up and down a few times. At its far end it narrows enough that some may wish for a belay. You can gear up at the notch and belay from there, setting a piece about halfway and at the narrow section, if need be. A 50m rope won't make it all the way across, necessitating about 40 feet of simul-climbing. A 60m rope might just make it. September 2007.
