Thank you for your vote and comments. Yes, climbing of K-2 is undoubtedly is highest. K-2, only 773 feet lower than Everest, is considered the most challenging and beautiful of all mountains.

The world’s renowned climber Mr. Reinhold Messner, rates K-2 the toughest of all. In his ascent in company with others he recorded his thoughts: “Ahead of us, there it stands, this summit pyramid. It all makes absolute sense without being at all rational or irrational ... The feelings sometimes comes to me that I have already died and therefore have nothing left to lose. It washes over me in the early morning when I awake from a restless, dreamless sleep. I busy my self and feel inwardly calm and content. Nothing worse can happen to me”.

But why he climbs against such odds is well explained. In reach of the second-highest point on earth he was overwhelmed by his emotions. “I am no longer myself, and yet once again I am”. “The wonderful twilight enfolds me and fills me with freedom – also perhaps with longing and with sadness. It is as if a time awaited me, which has yet to come – the twilight over the valleys.”

He has seen the long, long shadow of K-2 lengthening in the evenings until it casts it pyramid profile many, many kilometers to the east, a unique phenomenon, a spectacle no words can describe and that only a brave few will ever experience, on the top of the world, where man and mountains meet and continent collide.
