AspenFrom the Vantage Point

The forest in the background that engulfs the pyramid looks a lot like the one in Cambodia -- the ruins of Angkor Watt.

You had an excellent vantage point, Jess!

The Mexican Government will no longer let the tourists climb the structures. Graffitti and defacing by idiots caused this.

Yeah, that is indeed sad to hear. I'm glad you made it up there for the view! :)

I have received several questions from fellow SPers wanting to visit Chichen Itza. Due to idiotic tourists defacing the structures with grafitti, you can no longer climb the Temple of the Sun as seen in my profile pic.

I climbed that when I was a kid (well, high school, at any rate). I hope you can still climb Tikal, which is probably the best Mayan ruin I've ever summited.

A co-worker just got back from Tikal. He was able to climb it.
