Camouflaged white-tailed ptarmigans

After the hail storm we saw these White-tailed Ptarmigans, nearly stepping on them before seeing them, as usual. There was an extra pair of legs under one of the adults. September 1994.

I thought this was a picture of the red plants growning. After further examination I saw the Ptarmigans!

Wonderful example of how well Mother Nature designs her creatures. Thanks for posting this.

	Hasn't voted	Yeah, one doesn't generally see ptarmigans when glancing! And one rarely sees them against the blue sky either! :-)
