Tagliaferro, 'the Iron Cutter'

Tagliaferro(2964m) N-Nw Ridge seen from Corno Mud.Valsesia. Italy.
The name of this peak, 'Iron Cutter' in english, is due to the shape of its summit, a sharp eged ridge long more than 60 meters.
This ridge is the most classical climbing route of the mountains of Valsesia(III and IV with a passage of V- of the UIAA scale of difficulties).
Tagliaferro is subjected to sudden weather changes and the lichens that cover the rocks has been the cause of several accidents, some of them lethal.
This side of the mountain is 850 meters high, on the left of the ridge the North face (IV and V UIAA scale).

	Hasn't voted	Questa foto l'ho cercata per anni! Un estate ho fatto da custode al rifugio Ferioli per una Settimana e salendo al corno mud alle sette di mattina sono riuscito a trovare il cielo sereno! Alla base della cresta ci sono una serie di lapidi di ricordo di gente che ci ha lasciato le penne, si vedono anche dal colle Mud. E' ostile, decisamente, come tutte le cose rimaste pure in natura del resto. Basta averne rispetto, un altro modo per dire che è meglio essere prudenti ;-)
