Hasn't voted | There are dozens of those huge cairns on the summit plateau, as you may have noticed in the other photos. I think during WWII that the Canadians had soldiers stationed on the summit. I wonder if the cairns are a result of disciplinary action?! | | Posted Jan 10, 2002 10:25 am |

The area gets a number of pea-soup fogs and when it comes in it is very easy to get lost on the bolder field hence the large number of cairns.
As well they get lots of snow so the cairns are built very high.
