Eventually we went right over the top of this big rock, which always presents the most formidable obstacle on the Lone Peak's knife edge in winter. Only it usually possible to get around it. 1/26/07

Voted 10/10 | I would say go up and over. But who am
I? I'm just some dude in Arizona enjoying

Hasn't voted | Thanks! What last storm, I hope it wasn't last LOL.
Seriously it is not so easy to get onto the top of this boulder, but once you get there, you realize that getting down on the other side is much worse. It less snowy conditions, my fav workaround is on the left. | | Posted Feb 5, 2008 8:57 am |

Voted 10/10 | would be to "lasso" it with a length of
rope, kinda like a cowboy does in a rodeo.
Are there pitons in the rocks, or do most
people remove them afterwards???
I'm glad you made it to the other side.
The other side is always the best place
to be!!! | | Posted Feb 5, 2008 11:32 am |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Noondueler, yes, it's better not to slip up there. That's how the same section looks from a bit further away:
