Rio Grande Pyramid Sunset [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Rio Grande Pyramid Sunset
One of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen. Catching it meant still being above 13,000 feet when the sun set and a long hike back to camp in the dark. Well worth it, of course. Weminuche Wilderness, San Juan Mountains, Colorado. November 2007.

Thanks! I've had good luck backpacking in this area of the Weminuche in late October & November for the last two years. Last year for Rio Grande Pyramid and this year for the lesser known Chief Mountain and South River Peak (both 13ers). In my three fall trips I've only encountered one other party in there, and that was a hunting outfitter.
