Great picture ..

Sorry, I was wandering around in the
desert, and didn't have a chance to get
back to you. This is an amazing arch.
Whereabouts is it located? I need to
check it out the next time I visit UT.
Hey, please have a nice day!!

Re: Great picture ..

The trailhead for Phipps is about 1 1/2 miles south of the Calf Creek campground turnoff, where the Escalante intersects Hwy 12. There is a good-sized parking lot there right next to the river on the west side of the highway. Cross the highway and you should be able to find a not-too-maintained trail following the river east. Go about 1.25 miles, then follow a large side canyon (Phipps Wash) on the right. Follow a primitive trail up for a little over a mile, and follow another drainage on the left (east now) and there are cairns to follow up to the arch. I'll post the route on a topo in the next few days for you...

Re: Great picture ..

Thanks, Mike! That sounds like one of the
best trips ever, and Calf Crk. Falls must
be really 'falling' this year! I will have
to drive up to Escalante and check the area
out. - And exercise the heart - LARRY
