YES, it was a voyage to the edge of Central Arizona! This is the view
looking down off 7,610-foot Rim Lakes Vista, just 2 miles south of Woods Canyon Lake in central Arizona.

Please CLICK on the picture! You can make out an automobile traveling
westbound on Hwy 260, as the highway snakes its way (2,710 vertical feet)
back down towards Payson, Arizona.

Also in the background, 6,754' Turkey Peak is seen rising out of
"the largest continuous stand of Ponderosa pine trees in the world."

Turkey Peak gets its name from an abundance of Meleagris gallopavo, or wild Turkey. Turkeys were introduced to the Kaibab Plateau in 1950,
but were always native to central Arizona. (Turkeys can often be seen
near the many streams that flow beneath the south-facing escarpment of
the Mogollon Rim.)
