Kings Peak Tele [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Kings Peak Tele
A telephoto of "the shortcut" from just above Dollar Lake. Here we can see the western ridge of West Gunsight Peak on the left and Kings Peak on the right.

Notice two things - the sheer amount of snow still present on June 23 (2008) and the ski tracks barely visible along the skier's left in the coulier. I believe those are the ski tracks from a group of five guys who did a Highline TH to Henry's Fork TH ski traverse right around June 4-6.

Not sure. I count at least three tracks here, maybe four. Noah appeared to make "avi" cuts, not linked turns but maybe that was higher up where there is no snow now.

Here is a 100% crop of the coulier (chute?):

Coulier Closeup

At any rate, if there is good snow there, it must be awesome.

OK, gotta agree with you on the tracks! There are longer lines in Upper Henrys too, all to the West of Anderson Cutoff coloir, but I hardly ever saw really good snow in there. It tends to be very windcrusted through mid-spring. Maybe as the spring advances, then it gets into a better shape?

Very nice website BTW, thanks for sharing!

I just wear a freshly killed salmon and ripe blueberry smock to lure all the bears to me, away from the photo scene. Works every time. :)

Yes, (lol) you have to make yourself "user-
friendly" for the neighborhood wildlife! :)
