No problem - it's a cool picture by the way though! I was down at J Tree last summer and saw San Jacinto for the first time - I had no idea there were mountains around there with that kind of relief! Climbing was fun at Joshua Tree, but we could only get a few climbs in early or late because of the heat!

My partner and I are looking to climb Snow Creek on San Jack, and we've found your post about this route very useful. One detail we are struggling with: When we called the water district, they were quite adamant that they don't give permission to enter "Area 33..." This area is, of course, smack-dab over the first mile of the approach.

How did you overcome this? Is there a way to get permission, or is a covert opperation the standard practice?

Any help you could provide would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

Covert operation is standard practice....

BTW, 2005 is THE year to climb Snow Creek. The gully has so much snow in it that it looks like a glacier when you approach it. Will post more photos soon....

That's the vibe we're getting...we're all over it while the opportunity is here.

Thanks for the info.

Did you get a chance to climb Snow Creek? If so, how did it go? Single day ascent? I am thinking about going up again. Let me know if you are interested....
