Mount Shasta

Mt. Shasta seen from "Castle Peak". The largest body of water is Castle Lake, though over half of it is not visible from here. Heart Lake is the larger body of water to the right. The other pools are unnamed. Black Butte is visible on the left and the Goosenest and Willow Creek Mountain are above it on the horizon. This is the reverse of this perspective Nov2008.

Isn't that little pool of water on the far right "Little Castle Lake"?

This is a great shot, I've never made it this far, just to Heart Lake.

That little body of water you see is actually just a small, ephemeral pool. Sometimes it dries up at the end of summer. Little Castle Lake is tucked in at the end of the canyon you see to the right of the pool. Here is a view of Shasta from there:
