Three of the best [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Three of the best
John Roper, Bob Packard and Bob Bolton together in this rare shot of the first three men to finish all of the Washington State county highpoints. John is also probably the most prolific Washington State climber that I know of and Bob Packard is almost a legend in county highpointing circles. Of course, Bob Bolton along with his good friend Duane were the first two to ever get all of the 58 ultra's (which includes pre-eruption Mt. St. Helens) This is an amazing trio of guys who are dedicated climbers and mountain lovers. Bob Packard is now in his 70's and still going strong. Congrat's to all three. Pic taken for Bob Bolton.

...I'm just a poser! Roper is the most prolific Washington peakbagger by far with over 2,300 summits and over 270 first ascents. And don't miss that Packard was the first person to complete the 57 remaining 48-state Ultras, he's climbed more Ultras than anyone with 130, he's climbed 25 of the 50 most prominent peaks in the world, 2nd to the leader who has 26, he shares the lead with 34 of the top 100 prominences on earth, and he ranks 2nd in the world among 2000-foot prominence baggers. To see what that guy has accomplished, do repeated finds for "Packard" on this page.

You need to re-read the title caption. It says three of the best and that is totally correct. It is true that the others have some pretty amazing accomplishments but don't underestimate yours and the passion you bring to the mountain undertakings you challenge yourself with. You are definitely (in my eyes) one of the best (and you are humble too).

It bears note that another climber featured prominently in this album, Mike Kelsey is right up there with Packard on some of the stats on that page!

Hey Bob, we've done 100 peaks together, I just did a compilation with 31 together the most in one year. What a lot of fun too.

Amazing! I had 96 in an incomplete count. WOW, 100 eh? And that's just the beginning I'm hoping. Will you be counting your peaks with Dennis too? I'd like to know that number as well!

Somewhere around 70 with Dennis. I'll have to figure the stat's. Over 20 with Eric and about ten with Bill J. You three have been
great hiking companions and even better friends.

Well, I must say that I've never had so much fun in my life since we first hooked up for those low-life county highpoints. Even then it's hard to believe we've done 100 together -- WOW! A paraphrase on my own best line: So Many Memories, So Much Fun!
