Even though this isn't actually a photo of Mount Whitney itself, this is an important point on the Whitney Trail. This is Trail Crest at 13,600'. It's at the top of the famous "97 Switchbacks" which start at 12,000' near Trail Camp. At Trail Crest, you get your first glimpse of Sequoia National Park which is behind me in the photo.
