Here is a shot of the notch in the south ridge.

look closely at the face of this ridge and locate the steep ramp/crack that runs from bottem left to upper right-that is the route and the ramp you must locate when descending into the notch.



The highpoint of this pyramid-shaped section of ridge is the false summit you view from Pitkin Lake. You cannot see the true summit from the lake.
