Indeed it is imposing, but maybe that is because several of us are planning to climb Jefferson in a couple weeks.



How was the traverse and did you encounter any rockfall on that? What kind of protection did you place? I'd be very interested. Nice set of pics you've posted.

Thanks Dean. The traverse had still plenty of snow but was getting very soft in the midday sun. Placed 3 on the ascent and 4 on the way back. But I was not sure if the 3/4 pickets would have held a fall with all the soft snow and 6 people on the rope. Fortunately no rockfall but it is certainly a possibility. The summit block still has snow on it but by the time you get there it would probably be gone.

Thanks Radek, the color is the only nice thing about those rocks :) Jeff Thomas in his book says if you survive the bottom part of the horn you get to solid 5.6-5.7 routes...

Thanks Sean! From that point on where I took the shot you start the traverse and worrying if the loose junk above you might start falling on you...
