We had to traverse a good 200 feet to get around this crevasse.

Thanks Bor, but true credit goes to my partner who took this pic. Nice pics yourself, interesting mountains in Europe.

I'm climbing Rainier next week; we're doing the Kautz Glacier Chute. Have you climbed the Kautz? If so, I'd like to hear about it.

Yup, done the Kautz 3 times. It's a long approach, even up to the Turtle. I would recommend 2 nights on the mountain, if you have time but certainly doable if you don't have time.

Do you plan on going through the "Fan" or around it on the Nisqually?

I've always done it in July/August time frame. During then, the two pitches are always icy. Right now, I imagine its not as bad and its more kick stepping on snow.

Give me your e-mail address and I can send you some pics.

my address is ahoyt@mckoolsmith.com. I'd love to see the pics.
We're doing the route according to the description on summitpost. Check it out--anymore detail would be helpful--and any resources you might recommend. Thanks!

You might add to the caption the name of the mountain you are on. Very nice.
