One of a few rock monoliths...
One of a few rock monoliths along the Thunder Mountain Trail. The most notable of these are called, "The Sentinels." I have no information whether anyone has ever climbed these formations. Some of them appear to be about low class 5. My experience is that the rock can be dangerously crumbly, and protection ops would be poor. With such potentially poor rock, a rappel from the summit might not be done very safely! August 11, 2004

"We have nothing against the practice slopes and the standard runs, but if that's all you know, you've missed something special; something lost beyond the ranges, a glistening new white world with its hard edges covered over for the winter, and you its discoverer."   --Dave Brower
