This is one of the occasions...
This is one of the occasions where I had to put my crampons on regardless of the fact that the snow wasn't solid enough to keep them from reaching the rocks below. At least I had some kind of traction to get up to this little notch. With snow on the route, this is the crux. The cairn is on the east side of the ridge not too far below the summit. You must descend off the ridge a little ways to avoid the 5th class ridge near the summit. Needle Mountains in the background including Pigeon, Turret, Turret Needles, Eolus, Animas Mountain, Windom, and Sunlight Peak. September 5, 2004.

There were so many views up there it wasn't even funny. This is at least tied for tops in views that I have seen from a summit. I put some of the photos on other pages. See my profile page and you can find them easier.
