Leading P3 (~A2) of Northeast... [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ]
Leading P3 (~A2) of Northeast...
Leading P3 (~A2) of Northeast Face route about halfway up the pitch. Note the unclipped bolt on the right side of photo. It is only about 6 feet above the belay ledge and I think it's kind of a "sucker" bolt. If you clip it and go straight up (you can see the next few pieces of fixed pro about 20 feet above and just left of this bolt), you're facing about 20 feet of runout (face climbing in the 5.9 range) to the next piece of pro. Instead, walk the ledge 10 feet left from P2 belay, and aid up (gear, green Alien and small nut) a shallow, right facing dihedral to reach the "bolt" ladder visible higher up (October 30, 2004).

Whoa! I first saw the thumbnail for this image and thought someone had forgotten to rotate to landscape mode. Creepy!
