Voted 10/10 | Excellent photo of Old Mike. Do you have any closeup shots of Old Mike. I might make an Old Mike page. | | Posted Dec 6, 2004 10:12 pm |

Hasn't voted | That would be a great idea. Old Mike Peak (13,113') is the 3rd highest in NM, behind neighboring Wheeler and Walter, and is anywhere from 11-89 feet higher than the "three-headed monster" of Truchas Peak. I don't have any close-ups, but you'll see a couple of photos on the Wheeler Peak (NM) page that I submitted on Sept 07, 2004. One of them is a widescreen panorama that I shot from US-64 just east of Eagle Nest (this is where WB US-64 emerges from out of Cimarron canyon), the other is a single-frame photo with a green "milepost 281" sign. I do happen to have two identical photos (a panorama and a single-frame) taken from the same spot (about 4 or 5 miles S/SW of Eagle Nest) without the "milepost 281" sign. I actually live in Albuquerque and I'm originally from Questa (where my parents live), but next time I go up there, I hope to shoot some more photos of the Wheeler Peak group. | | Posted Dec 7, 2004 6:47 pm |

Voted 10/10 | I'm sure I'll be up there soon. My dad lives in Red River in the summer but goes up in the winter occasionally. I climbed Walter, Wheeler, Simpson, and Old Mike on the same climb a few years back. I have a camera exactly like yours so I can probably get some good zoom shots. | | Posted Dec 8, 2004 2:49 am |
