Very nice. Alan and I will be in the Charon's Garden tomorrow. Maybe we'll get a chance to hit the summit.

I would highly recommend it. We ascended some Class 3-4 rock to get to the summit, but I'm sure there are routes from class 2 on up to some excellent class five that could be opened up. Have a good trip!

We planned on a Twin Rocks to Mt. Mitchell traverse so we'll see if we have enough time. Since we will be parking at the south parking lot, we may have a chance to climb Charons Garden and then work our way around south of Granite to get back. Alan plans on climbing Granite before I arrive and we'll meet on Twin Rocks. Have you been up Twin Rocks yet? If you haven't, your next trip should be to go up Lincoln and Twin Rocks. There are a couple of named peaks over by Lincoln. One is named Bat Cave Mountain. I can't remember the other one. I don't know if they are prominent enough for a SP page but they might be pretty cool summits to check out.

I hit Twin Rocks in November, however our camera was feeling inoperable and it was a very wet day, which made the south face very interesting. I think the other mountain you're referring to is Phantom Mountain--I've been interested in them for a while. I don't know about an SP page for them, I have the prominence written down at home, I'll let you know tonight what I think, but I'm sure they'd be good additions to a Mt. Lincoln page.

If you climb them, I'll make a section on the Mt. Lincoln page and I'll add your pics to it. You can also write the descriptions too.

Just renoticed this thread--I think I may hit Lincoln on Friday (possibly). I went back and checked my prominence, they're seriously lacking in it, with about 55 feet for Phantom and 45 feet for Bat Cave, but they appear to have pretty distinctive profiles from some angles, and I might look into the origin of the name Bat Cave.

There is a mine over there too. It is in between Elk and Lincoln. I must have been pretty close to it on my traverse from Elk to Lincoln but I never saw it.
