Standing tall on Pothole Dome, High Sierra- astute viewers might be able to discern the mountains on the Keystone beer can- 22 August, 2004

Hasn't voted | Dirk, your trip report had me on the edge of my seat (if I had been sitting) - the prose was excellent, the way you captured your harrowing ascent of that infamous roche-montenee. I only hope that one day I can aspire to such greatness (I have climbed the dome, but not with the courage to rely solely on a Keystone for protection). Your superb route will certainly be a true testpiece for any serious climber passing through Toulomne Meadows with time for a lunch break and will doubtless be attempted (but not always completed) by many others to come.
Perhaps one of these days we can also attempt the as yet unclimbed CA 14er, Lil' Langley. ;-) | | Posted Feb 1, 2005 10:38 am |

Voted 10/10 | 4 stars for any shot with beer in it. Beer shots just don't get the respect they deserve. See my "watering hole" shot.

Hasn't voted | Ah yes, have had a beer or 2 on top of a Colorado 14er or 2 :) From where was this taken? | | Posted Feb 1, 2005 1:09 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Coyote Cantina is in Johnson Village just a few miles South of Buena Vista. I bought a 6 pack belt last time I was at the Coors brewery in Golden. I am planning on loading it up for a good hike next summer.

Hasn't voted | Thanks, Carolyn- I am honored. If you want me to guide you up Pothole Dome next time we're both in Tuolumne, I'll give you a special discount. Back from Ouray yet? | | Posted Feb 3, 2005 1:57 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Wow, that's a great offer Dirk -- but I don't think I'm in good enough shape for Pothole Dome. I'll have to train for a while first -- you know, build up some endurance!!! ;^)
Oh, you would have go and bring up Ouray. I was supposed to be on a 3:42 flight this afternoon. Instead all I'll get is to hear the stories about some gnarly, overhanging M7 route.... >:^|

Hasn't voted | Hey Bill,
unlike our climb, unfortunately, I had to carry this one all the way up (& down) the climb! | | Posted Feb 2, 2005 3:38 pm |
