The optional descent route is visible in this picture. From the Redcloud-Sunshine saddle, angle northwest, staying above the cliffs seen here, toward the patch of tundra seen from above. Our party has started the tundra section in this picture. The trail in the tundra was sketchy in 1995, but it may be well worn now. Experience with loose San Juan rock is recommended before attempting this route.
