Voted 10/10 | Do people climb the south face, too? I'd never heard of it. | | Posted Jan 16, 2009 8:08 pm |

Hasn't voted | There is one commonly described route on the face. It was climbed first in 1937 (second ascent not until 1964) with a direct finish variation added in 1974.
It is very difficult: TD- with pitches of V and VI-. The rock is described as poor with frequent rock fall. | | Posted Jan 17, 2009 9:21 am |

Hasn't voted | There is indeed a route up the south face from the Eiger, it was made in 2001 - not that i've climbed it, no no :) i'm not that good (yet).
see here: http://www.toprope.ch/de/fun/eigersued.php
It is indeed very difficult (7+ on the french climbing scale, which is a VIII / 5.11c. 22 pitches, with bivouac).
