On July 3, 2001, I was the...
On July 3, 2001, I was the first person to reach Piker's Peak (11,657'), or the false summit on Mount Adams, however, a husky (named Kelly) made it up faster than I (notice she's not carrying a pack). For some reason, being up there alone with the dog made me think of Alaskan animal spirits. The true summit is still a hike away, but now in view.

definitely reminiscent of a spirit wolf guiding you up the mountains, the skies add a mystical otherworldly tone
