question!I searched the internet for 20 miutes trying to find out when this forest fire occurred for my Indian Creek Butte page:
Do you know what the name of this fire was? FYI, its regrowing nicely!

Re: question!I can't remember where I got that date, but I did confirm it on a web site. I guess there was also a large wildfire in 2002. I'm not sure which side it burned though. I bet if you'd call the Prairie City ranger station someone may be able to give you more info. When I was there last I didn't see any new trees (seedlings) growing, just a lot of green low growing brush. It kind of makes me want to sprinkle some pine seeds...I know, "Don't fu_k with mother nature"

Re: question!The Indian Creek basin burned Aug 11/12 1996, it was part of precribed fire that had burned for several weeks before it made the big run. The fire was called the Wildcat Fire.

Re: question!Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to getting back out in your playground. I still wear my Prairie City hat I bought at a local cafe in PC. Canyon Mountain is probably the reason for my next trip out there...
