In my opinion, this was the most interesting feature on the White Butte massif. This bentonite clay fin is at the extreme north end of the small North Ridge spur of the peak. It is about 60 feet high and quite sheer on all sides. I thought about "trying" to make an ascent of it (first ascent?) but didn't have my crampons with me and I didn't want to go to the car to get them. Not sure they would have helped on the crumbly clay anyway. July 2003.
