In October, lingering snow...
In October, lingering snow will be hard requiring crampons. Since we didn't have them, we had to improvise a route across this steep finger of snow (seen under my right hand in this photo). Jim Jung is emerging from a hole in the snow. From the other side, we had to climb down under the snow then scramble 15 feet or so up loose dirt and rocks to an exit. Oct. 16, 1999.
