Otto's  Sucess!

Good times. Dropped my iPhone from the upper rappel. Landed on lunchbox ledge, shattered but still working!!! A testament to the old iPhone 4.

Otto was a badass!

Awesome Climb of Otto's Route  Sucess!

I led pitches 2 and 3 while Paul led 1 and 4. Had the entire area to ourselves on this fine early fall day.

Otto's Route  Sucess!

Fun little historic climb, less spectacular than I expected though. Led P1 & P3.

Otto's Route  Sucess!

Although the route is manufactured, it actually climbs really well. The history is quite interesting. We had a good time despite somewhat chilly temperatures. Got an early start and were the first party on the route on a Saturday. Climbed with Mary on our 2nd trip to the UT desert.

nice summit

nice climb via Otto's Route, great views from the top.
2nd time: lead 2 pitch, still lovely route and don't mind repeating this one. Though would not call it via ferrata as one did on Mountain Project. And thanks Otto dude for making those nice hand and foot holds.

Independence  Sucess!

Climbed Independence Monument with Kris. Once again, P2 and the summit pitch (P4) were a struggle and I sweated quite a bit. I couldn’t have climbed the tower without Kris leading, especially since my desk job has really taken a toll on my body in recent years and I’m quite out of shape. Never the less, it was a beautiful climb and I was both happy to reach the summit, but disappointed that I had to struggle so much and that I realized just how out of shape I really am.

Great  Sucess!

Thought the crux was the offdith, chimney third pitch. Top pitch was not bad at all. Get on it!

my 30's kickoff  Sucess!

did you start your 30's in style? kinda like this? i joined aaron, mike and shawn for a climb up otto's route on independence monument.

aaron and i made an attempt in early spring this year, and didn't make it all the way. after spending half a year waiting for another shot at this tower, we were thrilled that everything was able to come together this weekend. all of our training made this attempt go much smoother this time around!

Otto's  Sucess!

Otto's route with Jamie, Aaron and Sean. Couple of tough spots, especially the cap rock crux which got a bit pumpy trying to pull the roof with slick feet. Overall a very fun route and great weather, warm day but route stays mostly comfortably in the shade.

climbed via Otto's Route  Sucess!

This was my first desert tower climb so no matter how manufactured the holds were, it was still fun. I found the dihedral on P3 pretty attention getting since the biggest piece we had was #3:) the rest was just mellow fun climbing all the way to the top where one is rewarded with awesome views...
Seconded P1
Lead all the technical pitches

Funny Guy  Sucess!

After climbing this route I have a feeling that Otto had a pretty keen sense of humor and adventure. Just a hunch. Fun route.

fun climb  Sucess!

This is near my home town. It is fun. I enjoy 4th class
"Otto Ferrata" scrambles like the route was intended to be.
