Oh yes  Sucess!

The rock is THAT GOOD.

Did Aries. Led the flared chimney and the roof to gemini cracks. What a great climb.

Great Day  Sucess!

Did Godzilla just to the first pitch and bailed. 94 degrees. Way hot.

GM Route
Godzilla again.

Great routes. Had to aid the first moves to pitch 2. Was pretty burned up after the near death heat from the first ascent on godzilla. Take water!

First time at Index. Looking forward to returning when the weather cools a bit and getting on the upper wall.

Great Area  Sucess!

I was first exposed to Index by one of my climbing mentors where he introduced me to aid climbing. It is a great spot and I have enjoyed climbing here several times and hope to continue climbing here.

A day out.  Sucess!

We went there for a day with Martin who introduced us to the area - much thanks dude!! Led Toxic Shock [awsome - never saw granite fracture so cleanly before forming Indian Creek-like splitters!], Happy Puppy [Nice route], Purr In My P... [Shirley led - fun route], 5.8 hand cracks next to Toxic [Shirley led one & Martin the other - short but sweet], and Aries [WOW - little miniature pitches but most pack quite a wallop - the flared chimney is indeed 5.8 my ass!!]. Great fun outing!

Awesome crag  Sucess!

Been here 15 times in the last 3 years (many after work). The best climbing I've ever done. What a pleasure it is to have this beautiful place that I hold is such high regard only 90 minutes from home.

Aries - 4X - Beautiful climb, the pitches are short but each is unique and cool. Great protection. One of my favorites.

Taurus - 2X - Fun fingercrack.

Great Northern Slab - 3X - Sweet twin fingercracks. My first route here.

Pisces - 2X - Awesome low angle handcrack.

Libra Crack - Got spanked on TR, way harder than 5.10a, unless you're a midget.

Roger's Corner - 2X - Nice 2 pitch line, the crux section on the second pitch is cool.

Breakfast of Champions - TRed it with Bruce. AWESOME overhanging splitter handcrack. I need to lead this.

Princely Ambitions - Lead the first pitch. Got spanked at the steep finger traverse. Really cool pitch.

GM - Stellar 3 pitch line! Really loved it. I was too chicken to lead the HOTC pitch, but it wasn't hard at all, next time.

Toxic Shock - 5X - One of the best! Beautiful 5.9 splitter handcrack on the upper half. Lieback start is fun. Great protection.

Handcracks right of TS - Lead each a couple of times. Easy but fun.

Happy Puppy - 2X - Beautiful steep perfect handcrack in the back of a flared chimney, just wish it was longer.

Who Put The Purr In My Pussy - 2X - Interesting face climbs and a few jambs. That loose flake on top needs to be removed.

Corner Flash - 2X - Fun handcrack, felt more like 5.8.

Even Steven - TRed it with Bruce. Great hard steep double fingercrack. Pretty doable for an Index 11b.

Timberjack - 2X - 4 star route. The top is easier if you lieback it. Harder as an offwidth.

Senior Citizens in Space - Stellar 5.8 dihedral fingercrack!

Battered Sandwich - TRed it with Bruce. Really nice, straighforward for Index 5.9.

Instanbul - Fun. Needs some cleaning.

Magic Fern - Really good 2 pitch 5.9, very fun climbing on both pitches.

Them - Sandbagged, more like 10c than 5.9. Steep and pumpy.

A Good Day

I went to Index with my friend Linda N. My climbing experience was minimal and Linda had never climbed except in the gym. She recruited a friend to go with us and lead. I think we cimbed Twin Cracks (5.6 and 5.7) and another harder crack before it started to rain. I remember being happy because the other climb was quite a bit harder.

I got a hugh, hugh bruise on the inside of my leg, standing at the belay of the Twin Cracks. It never hurt; it was just from leaning against the rock. When I got home, I had a doctor's appointment. To this day, she is convinced my husband beats me.
