| With Stefan Feller, Paul Klenke, and Greg Koenig. Stefan's choice of Ironstone Mountain was a good one. Despite an approach from the south, the route was nearly all forested and not avalanche-prone... except for perhaps the final 150-200' of the ascent, but we had great snow conditions that day. Great weather and great views, although windy at the top. Forest Road 1382 was plowed until its sharp left turn, although high-clearance was still needed to reach that location. Highly recommended summit, especially during snowpack... I can only imagine how hot this area gets during Summer! |
