There was a time when I lived in Colorado, hiked a lot, and could climb mountains like these fairly easily. That time has passed. Now that I live in Alabama, and this being my first climb up a Colorado mountain in 3 years, my lungs burned all the way up. I enjoyed it nonetheless!

Wow, it was my first trip where I needed an ice axe and my new ice trekkers. The latter broke appart. Whiteout on the summit.

Started from the upper parking lot (TH) and followed the ridge line northbound. Got back to the parking lot by the snowfield above Saint Mary's Glacier.

Perfect weather, windy though. Fun ascent and descent with Stacey.

Always a standby when the weather is bad...but never a summit. Finally topped out multiple times on Sky Pilot, Shooting Star, and Starbright Couloirs. Superstar still sloughing too badly to take on.

Hiked with CMC. We hiked up over St. Mary's Snowfield and then came down on the other side of the ridge to the west of St. Mary's Snowfield.

Snow shoes all the way to and from. Started up a 9:53AM, up an over St Mary's Glacier, through some high winds, past the rock pile, across the tundra, went a bit too far right and ended-up on a bare/rocky slope but soon found some large cairns. Reached the summit at 1:02PM. Glorious day, crystal clear skies with unlimited visibility. Back to the parking lot at 3:04PM. Sweet!!

Fun hike of James Peak. Saint Mary's Glacier was in rough shape. First time to see the glacier outside of winter. Very different!

Finally after many attepmts (1. Whiteout, 2. Cold, wind, 3. Car sliding backwards down the hill), the pup, the wife and I finally were successful. Also hiked over the bump known as Kingston, and scrambled to the top of Fox Mountain which held great views of St Mary's Glacier.

I'm not sure exactly when I climbed this one. It was one of the first real mountains I climbed after moving to Colorado.

I did it from the Winter Park side.
