Route Climbed: Vivian Creek Trail Date Climbed: July 3, 2003  Sucess!

Second of four peaks that day (along with San Gorgonio, Charlton and Little Charlton)...all in all, a beautiful but strenuous 20+ mile hike in the San Gorgonio wilderness.

Route Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: May 2003  Sucess!

Hiked on the snow via the South Fork trail to the base of the ridge. Climbed up the ridge 35-40 degree slopes using the crampons and ice axes to the summit. Excellent climbing and again a rare class 3 on the snow in SoCal. Glissading down made the trip a great fun.

Route Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: March 23, 2003  Sucess!

Climbed the North Ridge with mdostby and agorokhov. We camped Saturday night at the bowl (~ 10,000 ft). We started walking at 6:30am Sunday. The bottom part of the North Ridge is class 3. Then, it gets easier as the angle gentles off towards the summit. Got to the summit around 9:00am. Incredible view of the San Bernardino Ridge traverse---could see the 5 major peaks on the ridge (from west to east): San Bernardino Peak, San Bernardino East Peak, Anderson Peak, Shields Peak and Alto Diablo Peak. We descended the lowest point on the saddle very close to Little Charlton Peak. The hike out back to the trailhead parking lot took ~ 2.5 hours. This was a fun, local snow climb.

Very fun 2 days. Climbed the North Ridge with friends Miguel and Alex. The original plan was to climb the first chute right of the North Ridge but conditions for avalanche where prime so we decided to try the ridge. Miguel broke trail, postholing most of the way on the approach to the Jepson Bowl. We set up camp in the middle of the bowl, protected from any avalanche danger, in what must have been one of the most beautiful settings ever. You'd never guess you were in Southern California.
