Dollar Lake Saddle  Sucess!

2nd of 4 peaks that day with Ol' Walsher after tagging San Gorgonio. It was so cold on the summit of San Gorgonio that I practically ran over to Jepson. Signed in and headed due west along the ridgeline and dropped directly down to Dry Lake View Saddle. It certainly was nice to get out of the wind...

wintery spring  Sucess!

Summited Jepson along with a second summit of San Gorgonio via Vivian Creek Trail on a very stormy Spring day. When we set out, there was dry dirt as far as we could see, not a sing of snow remaining from winter. By noon we were trudging through powder that started dumping around 7:30 am and didn't let up all day. Temps stayed below 20 all day, limited visibility, high winds, great day!

9 Peaks Traverse

A true slog up from the trail. Only reason to do it is if you are tagging peaks.

Route Climbed: North Couloir #1 (Main Eastern) Date Climbed: April 24, 2005  Sucess!

A big group of us (agorokhov, socalmtneer, Mark Ingram, Steve Sauter, Justin, the Emis brothers and myself) climbed one of the north couloirs of Jepson Peak. We climbed the north couloir immediately to the right (west) of Jepson's North Ridge. Despite some weather (we had some trouble finding the base of the couloir because of partial whiteout conditions), we all summited and had a fun 1000ft glissade back down to Jepson bowl.

High winds, great climbing partners. Westernmost ridge should be fun...Looking foreward to the other Couliors

I almost thought this was the San Gorgonio summit until I saw it "miles" away! I cussed. Was interesting front-pointing up from the bowl and trying to avoid cornices and fractured snow; truly awesome glissading back down! The sign needs to be replaced.

Route Climbed: Ridge Traverse Date Climbed: March 27, 2005  Sucess!

It was a beautiful spring weather on the summit. We climbed up the ridge in about 4-5 hours and then skied down in the center couluar.

Route Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: March 28, 2005  Sucess!

Climbed N ridge from the base under excellent snow conditions. The snow is hard windpacked with large variations depending on the location and aspect. The upper portion of towards the summit looks beatiful. 3 friends of mine skied the 1st chute in the Little Draw,I walked/glissaded down the same chute later.

Part of the nine peaks trail. Long day, but was worth it. Try to climb any of the Gorgonio wilderness peaks on a windy day so the smog is cleared out and the views are better!

Route Climbed: South Fork to Jepson Bowl Date Climbed: May 9, 2004  Sucess!

Wanted to try this route for a while. Was hoping there would still be enough snow on the north bowl for a climb. The snow was lacking in density but climbable. Punched through in several places. It was a struggle to find solid snow. It wasn’t wet, just full of air! Finally reach the summit around 6:00 PM. Wasted a lot of time thrashing through the scrub oak, just getting to the bowl, then ditto on the return to the trail. Maybe there’s a better access to the bowl, but if there is, I couldn’t find it. It was a long day but a great one!
