11,000 is 11,000  Sucess!

I had to get to the top of Jepson I remember because it was over 11,000 feet which is a big deal in Southern California. What a fun side hike to do after summited the big one, San G

Six Peak Loop  Sucess!

I had passed by it a couple of times on the way to or from San Gorgonio. This time, along with my friend, Chris, I made the short scramble as a part of our six peak loop day-trip.

Gorgonio - Jepson Saddle  Sucess!

Hiked up Jepson Peak while traversing around it toward San Gorgonio. It was very windy on the ridge. I can see why some people hike the ridge traverse in a day. It is probably much easier to do while carrying a day pack instead of a heavy backpack.

Long Day  Sucess!

Climbed up from the South Fork Trail with Omar. Climbed a couloir on Charlton, traversed over to Little Charlton, up to Jepson, then over to San G. It was miserable trying to find the trail throughout the day. Left at 6:45, got back at 9:30. I was exhausted.

N. Ridge  Sucess!

Awesome awesome climb. Camped at dry lake, cold night! Camp to summit to camp <4hrs, would have day hiked it but haven't fully recovered from my Nepal trip and other traveling. Got pretty steep before we gained the ridge, I'd estimate it to be 55 degrees, came down a much gentler slope.

San G. and Jepson

Added Jepson to the standard Vivian to Gorgonio peak for the first time. The extra 1.5 to 1.8 miles and 500 feet of gain and drop (round trip) made the hike down the steep Vivian trail that much more fun for the legs and feet. A good side trip that gives some great views.

South Fork Loop  Sucess!

I left South Fork TH at 5:30 a.m. and headed up past Dollar Lake. My goal was to reach San Gorgonio, but the ridgeline that starts with Jepson caught my eye and I headed up and signed the register at 8:50 a.m. before traversing the ridge over to San G. and then back down to South Fork via Dry Lake. If I recall correctly, the ammo box is still without lid, but there is a small notebook in it with some entries. I think the notebook is mislabled in bold marker on the inside cover: Dobbs 11,205. I know I was not on Dobbs.

From San G  Sucess!

My son Daniel and I hiked to San Gorgonio via the Vivian Creek Trail on a beautiful day. We then picked up the S.B. Peak Trail to just below the 11,200 summit southeast of Jepson. We scrambled up to that summit then northwest over to Jepson. Register ammo can is still lidless and without register book.

San Gorgonio - Jepson Solo from Vivian Creek  Sucess!

Nice diversion from the looonnng slog up Vivian Creek to San G's summit. Legs were more baked from this hike than when I did Whitney-Keeler-Muir hike in August. Summit log was missing from lidless ammo box. Bummer!
