John Muir NRT Bridge over Laurel Fork

John Muir NRT Bridge over Laurel Fork

California's John Muir Trail is more famous, but there's also a John Muir National Recreational Trail crossing the Kentucky-Tennessee border, mostly in Big South Fork National River and National Recreational River. That's a JMNRT in BSFNRNRA if you're keeping score at home. This photo shows the JMNRT symbol on a bridge over Laurel Fork in BSFNRNRA. The JMNRT is for foot traffic only, but this spot intersects with some horse trails that seem to get heavy traffic. (The horses ford the Fork here, they don't use the bridge.) October 2010.
