| My first time rock climbing in Joshua Tree, with Dirk (Diggler), Lara, Vasilis, and Eszter. Followed and TR'ed several routes on Hidden Valley, Echo Cove, and Quail Springs area. Touch & Go (5.9) was the most memorable - thrilling climb and fun descent. The weather was very windy for the first 2 days but improved on the 3rd day. Gorgeous desert landscape with wide open views and beautiful wild flowers. | ||

| Fun place to rock climb. I also climbed an unnamed ( I think ) peak out of Indian Cove campground. It's apparently the largest peak in the Indian Cove area and some class 3 routes can be found on both sides. Fun little day hike. | ||

| Great place for cracks! Got my first two trad leads (5.7s). Had four solid days of climbing. First day was wet with snowmelt! It warmed up quite a bit by the end of the t'giving week, but we still managed to melt snow for water in the campground!! | ||

| Most recent trip was MLK weekend 2005. Took a dayhike with climbing gear up Rattlesnake Canyon. After about 1.5 miles we cut across to our camp in Indian cove, a beautiful and very challenging day of scrambling and cross country route finding. | ||

| I've summited Joshua Tree Ntl. Park many times, & many different places. Have wonderful memories from there, & anticipate & hope for many more to come! Smelling like J-Tree granite after a long day of climbing, surrounded by all of the rock formations & funked-out J-trees, with an impossibly big desert sky above (esp. full of stars), is sublime. Have hung out with some great people there, definitely one of the nicest things. First 'official' 5th-class free solo there, too. Even just beer & kind while chillin' is great there (well, even better than most places). Fav' routes there (so far) include Stichter Quits (face), Double Cross (crack), Sail Away (comb. face & crack), & Palm Reader (crack). Some of the most despicable routes I've ever done are there also, most notably Dogleg (terrible butt-scumming chimney/off-width) & Gaz Giz. | ||
