Sort of like walking slackjawed into a big book store and knowing there isn't enough time to read all these damn fine books. Life is way too short while being bigger than one lifetime. That seems to be the conundrum when a good day is had at Joshua Tree.

Route Climbed: 130 total Date Climbed: 1997 to present  Sucess!

Spent at least 2 months of my life in J-tree. Best day's are to many to mention. But the day I on-sighted Hobbit's Roof and 6 or 7 other classics stands out.

Also spending time with my sister, my main climbing partner Thomas and the day we met my next climbing partner Schaffer. Also climbing some cool routes with my friend Laura.

Route Climbed: 5.9 + the Grotto, 5.9 Echo Valley Date Climbed: December 2004  Sucess!

Spent nearly two weeks in J-Tree, was with a group of climbers who were more experienced and so I learned a lot about trad-climbing, anchor building and other climbing techniques. Did bouldering, sport and trad climbing. Got crowded as colleges let out and the park filled with climbers. Grotto was one of the more adventurous trips away from popular climbs around camp. First time to J-Tree, beautiful rock, limitless climbs, perfect weather.

Route Climbed: As many as I could Date Climbed: Late October 2005  Sucess!

My third trip to the Tree (in the year I've been climbing) and each one gets better. Climbed as a team of three with Damien and Kristina. As D said, I was spoiled with two belay bitches and never had to coil a single rope! Touch and Go (5.9 or so) was the highlight but all the climbing was great--except for Dogleg (5.8 my ass), which I didn't enjoy but D. aced.

How can you even be on this site and call yourself a climber without being to the Mecca that is JT. Sail Away is THE best route in the park!

Route Climbed: Indian Cove Date Climbed: April 1, 2005

My boys and I spent two days at Indian Cove. One day of them scrambling all over the rocks at our campsite, then a day hike the next day up Rattlesnake Canyon. The weather was perfect, with water in the creek and perfect temperatures. Spring is the time for Indian Cove, be back next year for sure

Route Climbed: Various Date Climbed: 1981 - As long as I last...  Sucess!

Finally got to Josh in 1981 after arriving from NYC. At first it didn't seem right as I was used to climbing on "cliffs." My 1st route here was Lazy Daze, and that began the love affair. Some favorites over the years: Middle Age Crazy, Split Personality, Rubicon, Black President. Some FA's: Hang 'Em High, Siezure, Dyno Soar... (I think Shortimer and I got the second ascent on Games Without Frontiers.)

Route Climbed: several Date Climbed: May 5-7, 2005  Sucess!

My first time rock climbing in Joshua Tree, with Dirk (Diggler), Lara, Vasilis, and Eszter. Followed and TR'ed several routes on Hidden Valley, Echo Cove, and Quail Springs area. Touch & Go (5.9) was the most memorable - thrilling climb and fun descent. The weather was very windy for the first 2 days but improved on the 3rd day. Gorgeous desert landscape with wide open views and beautiful wild flowers.

Fun place to rock climb. I also climbed an unnamed ( I think ) peak out of Indian Cove campground. It's apparently the largest peak in the Indian Cove area and some class 3 routes can be found on both sides. Fun little day hike.

Route Climbed: Several in Hidden Valley and Lost Horse areas Date Climbed: Nov 21-26, 2004  Sucess!

Great place for cracks! Got my first two trad leads (5.7s). Had four solid days of climbing. First day was wet with snowmelt! It warmed up quite a bit by the end of the t'giving week, but we still managed to melt snow for water in the campground!!

Most recent trip was MLK weekend 2005. Took a dayhike with climbing gear up Rattlesnake Canyon. After about 1.5 miles we cut across to our camp in Indian cove, a beautiful and very challenging day of scrambling and cross country route finding.

This was my first trip to Josh and it was tons of fun. Went with a bunch of really good climbers and was amazed that there were easy things for me to do that were fun for them, too.
