| I had no route descriptions, so unsure as to the title of my route. I went straight up Diamond Mesa, across the mesa, across a knife ridge, and up a steep loose coluir. I do not recommend going up the colouir as it was extremely loose. Great fun though | ||

| Spectacular summit ridge--it's just a shame it requires a slog up Shepherd Pass and up endless sand on the south face to reach it. The ridge looked intimidating on the climb up, and based on a hazy recollection of Secor's advice, I dropped off the ridge to the west side, which proved to be tricky in places (difficult route-finding, some delicate moves). On the return, I kept religiously to the crest of the ridge, and found it *much* easier, although a couple of moves still seemed more like 4th class than 3rd. No sleep and no acclimatization beforehand made this a much tougher outing than I was anticipating. Mt. Keith will have to wait for another time. | ||

| Almost climbed this with the Sierra Challenge crew. I made it as far as the nearly-as-high false summit, 100 ft away. I suspected that the slopes would be a class 2 slog, w/ the class 3 being the upper portion shared w/ the SW Ridge, and I was right! Since I wimped out on the final 100 ft traverse due to exposure, I'll have to come back, but next time I'll ascend the SW Ridge | ||

| Climbed with the 2005 Sierra Challenge. Made the summit in 6.5h from the trailhead with Bob, Miguel, Michael, Steve, and Mark. Great day of hiking, weather was threatening all day long, but never stormed on us. The final ridge traverse was much more exposed than I had expected, but it made for a fun scramble. Eric J Lee | ||

| The 2005 Sierra Challenge group left sharply at 5:00AM. Steve Brezovec and I left at 5:08AM from the Shepherds Pass trailhead. Just a bit beyond after the first major saddle, I had to stop to put on tape on my feet blisters. Then, just after Anvil Camp, I stopped to eat. I was able to see the group going up towards Shepherds Pass but didn't catch up to them until I got to lake 3806-meter just below Junction Peak's south slope. While Michael Graupe, Eric Lee, Steve B and Mark went up via the south, sand-slogged slope, I opted to traverse NW towards the saddle at the north end of Diamond Mesa to pick up the South Ridge of Junction Peak. As I was traversing up from lake 3806-meter, I waved to Bob Burd as he was above me coming from Diamond Mesa and heading towards the South Ridge of Junction Peak too. Bob got to the summit at 11:25AM and I got there 5 minutes later at 11:30AM. Shortly thereafter, Michael G, Eric L and Steve B got to the north summit, while Mark stayed at the south summit. Bob B and Michael G headed down at 12:00PM, while Eric L, Steve B and I stayed there another 10 minutes (drying out socks, snacking, additional pictures). Michael G, Mark and Steve B went out the same way they came in via Shepherds Pass. Bob B, Eric L and I descended an east chute and picked up a trail down to The Pothole. Eric L and I ran into Mark, Michael G, and Steve B at Anvil Camp. From there on, most people were jogging, fast-walking down to the trailhead. I arrived at the trailhead at 4:36PM (11hrs 28 min after leaving it in the morning). All in all, a fun day in the mountains. | ||

| Attempted during the 2005 Sierra Challenge. Started from the TH @ 5.06. A slower than desired pace put me behind schedule, & surprisingly a degree of altitude sickness (though I'd been at 12k' the day before & over 13k' earlier in the season) did not help the cause either. Made it to the second false summit before deciding that an earlier return (my ride was also waiting) & theoretically more time to sleep that night seemed more appealing than continuing (esp. considering the downclimbing between subpeaks, routefinding, & overall not-so-great feeling). Turned around @ 12.40, getting back to the TH @ 18.21. All in all, though, still a rewarding day. | ||

| With Bill, Bob, Paul, and Susan. From camp at Shepherd pass to lake 3806m to the U notch was easy, then difficult route finding to the summit. Then on to Tyndall in the afternoon. | ||
