from Stahlhaus to Obersee Date Climbed: Aug 5, 1985
one of my first trips with the alpine club of Rommerlshausen (DAV Schwaben). First we climbed Schneibstein and then half of our group did the sidestep from Seeleinsee to Kahlersberg. It was a cloudless but very hot day that ended with a thunderstorm on the boat back to Berchtesgaden/Königsee.
I have climbed the Kahlersberg twice, once in 1994 and once in 2010, both times in October. The trail is not all that difficult technically, but should not be underestimated all the same as it is heavily exposed in many places and has sometimes via ferrata character. The view from the summit, especially towards the east over the large and completely wild Hagengebirge plateau to Tennengebirge and Dachstein, is fantastic! Already the Hochgschirr is an awesome place, especially in spring, when one can also see the waterfall way down below just above Obersee (in autumn, unfortunately, it is dry)!
