Great addition to SP corax! Very beautiful peak in very remote corner of our planet. Must be great feeling to wander there!

Yes it was a wonderful feeling to be there, but also eerie in a way.

To be in areas for weeks and weeks and not see a single trace of human civilisation.

A mystical and enchanting peak indeed, I must've stared at the feature pic for 5 minutes. You have my admiration for visiting what looks like the most remote spot on earth. Great job.

It has a nice shape, I agee.

Sven Hedin, the explorer, was also enchanted (he used that exact word actually) by the peak and that was why he gave it the name of the Swedish king.

You say this mountain has never been climbed. Why, after the long approach, did you not try and summit it yourself?

If we had had enough food for the rest of the journey, we would for sure given it a shot. It was a very hard decision not to try and realize we had to leave No Name and seven other unclimbed 6000 meter peaks behind without even trying.

More about this later in a trip report.

Did you say in a photo caption this peak has never been climbed? It looks pretty straightforward once you get on it (except for its height).

It has never been climbed.

No technical difficulties from what I could judge. The difficulty lays in getting there and as the only reasonable time of the year is during the cold months, ascenders can expect very low temperatures and strong winds.

The Japanese who tried it were no amateurs...

Cool. An un-climbed peak.

Thank you for sharing all those mountains that most of us won't be able to see in their lifetime!

"After 22 days in the wilderness, we were at the foot..." Why did you not make the summit?

Thanks for submitting the page. What an amazing place!

Thanks for the vote!

We did not have enough provisions to take the chance of spending the extra days for an attempt. At that point we had to focus on making it to the southern edge of the Chang Tang, which was still 24 days away.

I'll write a trip report later.

Maybe you should write a book about your journeys, it seems you have plenty of photo-material and background info.

Cheers,

Rick

Thanks!

There may be a book coming up. I just have to kill some of my self criticism.

There is a film being made about the Chang Tang traverse. I'll let SP know when it'll be shown.
