Wow...what can I say? I am so proud of myself as on this date: 08/10/2014, I really was quite strong going up the mountain, and faster than I have been in a long time. I really feel like I am ready to do more and more. Anyway, this Butte,to me, ranked, for me, in the top five of all time most beautiful panoramic views I have ever seen, and the beauty of the rocks was amazing! I want to go back here time and time again, AFTER, I get new tires for our car, b/c as we were almost reaching a nirvana like state at the top from the fire tower, we were told by one of the other guys that our tire was flat down below. That set off an ordeal, and fix a flat from a good Samaritan saved the day, along with my husband's friend Angelo, but in the end, I do not regret doing this amazing mountain, and I would like to go back and stay overnight. Love and Peace, BearQueen!!

I headed out in pre-dawn darkness because I knew I would had a long drive ahead of me later during the day. Even in the dark, this trail is well-maintained/used and easy to follow (with a headlamp).

In 1993. Great times here, took some pictures for a photo class at GRCC that I had to develop in the dark room....what a waste of time that turned out to be. I first saw the Butte in Explorer Search and Rescue at age 16. We were doing a training looking for a downed airplane. The sheriffs department threw down some airplane parts just below where the trail starts up off the old road (that you could drive it back then). Several pics at http://www.willhiteweb.com/washington_climbing/kelly_butte/washington_fire_lookouts_064.htm

I hear there is a terrific view from this lookout. Unfortuantely I was in the clouds here but it still was well worthwhile. Went up the gully option up and the new trail down
